Doing a patent search on USPTO.GOV with the help of inventor's color sell sheets and images
The updated
patent search result page (e.g., on www.uspto.gov) introduces a new
Sell Sheet column, enabling users to access links to color images,
videos, descriptive resources for each patent document.
How It Works:
Hovering over a cell in the Sell Sheet column displays the first color image from the inventor’s sell sheet.
Double-clicking opens a new window with the full sell sheet for that patent document.
Alternatively, hovering or clicking other columns (e.g., Title, Patent
Number) can also display the sell sheet, eliminating the need for a
dedicated column.
Hovering over the Title column may display the title of the sell sheet for quick reference.
Additional Features:
When inventors upload sell sheets, their content (e.g., keywords,
images) is integrated into the patent search engine’s database. This
improves future search results by incorporating sell sheet data.
Benefits:
Simplifies Understanding: Quick access to color images and descriptions enhances comprehension of complex patents.
Speeds Up Searches: Visual previews reduce the need to sift through lengthy legal documents.
Improves Search Results: Sell sheet content enriches the database for more relevant keyword matches.
This feature bridges the gap between technical legal patent documents
and user-friendly explanations, making patent searches faster, clearer,
and more accessible.
